Faith

My work is grounded in a long-held conviction: that, when its architects and participants act with foresight and integrity, the financial system can be made one of the most powerful tools we have to protect the future for the people whose savings depend on it, and for the world they will retire into. It is the responsibility I feel to those beneficiaries, and to the wider systems on which their long-term wellbeing depends, that drives the pace and persistence of my work.

I have spent nearly three decades working at the intersection of investment and sustainability, first as a practitioner and increasingly as a board member, advisor, and contributor to the wider system that shapes how capital is deployed.

Until June 2026, I was Chief Responsible Investment Officer at Brunel Pension Partnership, a £35bn LGPS pool managing assets for ten local authority pension funds. There, I sat on the Investment Committee and Investment Risk Committee, was a Certified Person (FCA, SMCR), and held day-to-day responsibility for embedding responsible investment across public and private markets. The role built on twenty years at the Environment Agency Pension Fund, where I led the development of one of the UK's earliest commitments to align investments with a well-below -2°C pathway, ahead of the Paris Agreement.

Board and advisory work

I chair the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC), where I have led the board through a period of significant growth. This European-focused investor body has more than c.400 member organisations across 20+ countries, representing $50 trillion in assets. My chairing style is empowering and high challenge, drawing on the full range of board expertise while maintaining rigorous accountability.

I co-founded the Transition Pathway Initiative in 2017, which is now one of the most widely used investor tools for assessing corporate climate transition. I am currently a member of the UK Government's Transition Finance Council, where I chaired Working Group 3. I also sit on the ISSB Investor Advisory Group, advise the Church of England's National Investing Bodies through the Ethical Investment Advisory Group, and contribute to the LSE Grantham Research Institute's ATTENUATE project on financing climate adaptation. Earlier roles include the Transition Plan Taskforce, the UK Green Taxonomy Advisory Group, and the British International Investment expert judging panel for climate finance in emerging markets.

Approach

Much of my work involves bridging communities: policymakers and practitioners, advisors and investors, and technical specialists and decision-makers. I am comfortable with the slow, careful work of building consensus on contested issues, and equally at ease representing investor perspectives in public forums, including at COP climate negotiations.

Recognition

I was appointed MBE in 2025 for services to pensions and the environment. I am a Fellow of both the CFA Society of the UK (FSIP) and the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (FISEP) and Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv). My work has been recognised through awards including the IPE European Awards (2024, 2025, 2026), Environmental Finance Personality of the Year (2021), and the LAPF Outstanding Contribution Award (2021).

I hold an MSc in Business Strategy and Environmental Management and a BSc in Environmental Science and Geography, both from the University of Bradford.
