The PRI’s Global Asset Owner Forum (GAOF) is a peer discussion forum for asset owners. On the morning of the 2026 Forum, more than 200 participants came together to discuss 12 sustainable finance topics selected by those in the room. The presentation looked back over the preceding year and was designed to stimulate those conversations.

It has never been more challenging to be an asset owner (AO), responsible for allocating capital at a time when the risk landscape is becoming increasingly complex. Yet that complexity may also create opportunities for value creation.

To stimulate conversations at the 2026 GAOF, the presentation looks back at the year since the previous Forum in October 2025. It highlights some of the key events that stood out to me as issues responsible investors needed to navigate, offering one asset owner’s perspective.

The GAOF went well and AOs enjoyed the peer-to-peer discussions, hopefully more to come in Hong Kong in October 2027.
